![]() It was a time when the free-world was drawn together by a war in two theatres, and men bonded together as warrior brothers-and sometimes more. ![]() You may have noticed I have a passion for WWII-vintage stories, and have reviewed several in the past. Progress has been good, and it should be available by the first quarter of 2012. I have begun the process of regaining the publication rights from Avon Books, and republishing the work in paper and ebook formats. The book is apparently more popular now than it was in 1979. On a whim, I googled “Wingmen Ensan Case”, and was stunned by the result. In 2011, during a move, I discovered my original file box of notes for the work. Avon Books in New York published it in 1979. In the author’s own words: I wrote Wingmen in 1978 at the age of 28. As another wingman watches – and waits for the beautiful woman who loves Jack – Hardigan and Trusteau cut a fiery swath through the skies from Wake Island to Tarawa to Truk, there to keep a fateful rendezvous with love and death in the blood-clouded waters of the Pacific. ![]() But a more subtle kind of hell was brewing in his feelings for rookie pilot Fred Trusteau. Story blurb: Jack Hardigan’s Hellcat fighter squadron blew the Japanese Zekes out of the blazing Pacific skies. Wingmen, by Ensan Case A superbly written epic of manly love set in WWII – ![]()

![]() ![]() A suit of armour had fallen on the floor and in a chair sat the Canterville ghost and rubbed his knees, which seemed to hurt. Shortly after the family had gone to bed they heard a fearful crash in the hall. The second appearance of the ghost was on Sunday night. For some unexplained reason, she was rather annoyed at the sight of the blood-stain, and nearly cried the morning it was green. The only person who did not enter into the joke was Virginia. These changes amused the family very much, and bets on the colour were made every evening. Some mornings it was red, then brown or purple, or even green. It was also quite strange that the colour of the stain changed from time to time. ![]() The only strange thing that happened was the blood-stain, which they found on the library-floor every morning. When he's just narrating as Neil for his inner monologue (of whatever that's technically called), it's not great, but acceptable. His voice is too rough, too guttural, and overall just too.grating for what I would have imagined the Foxes to sound like. The narrator is Alexander Cendese and this isn't my first time listening to one of his audiobooks, but I don't think he works well here. I'm not a fan of the audiobook for The Foxhole Court. I've been waiting for the audiobook for what feels like FOREVER now because audiobooks make re-reads go so much faster and it saves up time when I'm trying to read e-books or physical books. This two-star rating is solely based on the narrator's performance and not for the story (which is a five-star read for me).
